COHABS Mural Proposal, Shaw, Washington, D.C. I had the opportunity to work on a proposal for a two-story mural centered around a spiral staircase inside a rowhouse in Shaw for COHABS. It was my first time painting anything this large, and my first time working with large format brushes. Scaling my marker drawings up to the size of full walls was daunting, but the COHABS team was so encouraging and enthusiastic about the project, which made it a wonderful experience. Working with that much canvas space was challenging, but planning out the color and spatial composition of each piece was a lot of fun. I was not ultimately selected as the final artist, but the opportunity was an incredible learning experience. I loved working with COHABS, and seeing my work at that scale sparked a lot of new ideas going forward.
