Custom Hi-Fi Speaker Cabinet, 2025. During my final spring break in college, I visited New York City to interview with architecture firms and stopped by Silence Please NYC, a hi-fi listening room, vinyl shop, and tea house in Chinatown. Surrounded by designer furniture and beautifully crafted speakers, I met one of the curators and was invited to design a new model for the space featuring two woofers on the top and bottom with a specialized integrated horn component in the center. It was my first experience in audio engineering, and the process was highly iterative, involving six design variations exploring horn curvature, woofer placement, cabinet depth, and finishes. Translating horn physics from Excel data into an accurate 3D model in Rhino proved challenging but rewarding, and the speakers are now entering production with testing underway. I’m proud to have contributed to such a unique and collaborative project.
