The Drive East Film Photos, 2025. After graduating from the UofA and landing a job in Washington, DC, I packed up everything I owned, and my father and I drove across the entire United States. During this week-long road trip, we stayed at family and friends’ houses, allowing me to see parts of the country I had never visited before. I shot three rolls of film during this trip, the underpinning of which harbored very emotionally and transportatively tumultuous feelings. I was leaving a world and a community that I had built up, become too accustomed to, and fallen deeply enamored with, to move to a brand-new city, climate, and culture. This trip really encapsulated the anxiety, heartbreak, excitement, and everything in between as we hurtled past hay bales and the long, tall stalks of cornfields that stretched into infinity.
